Inside NYC #3
Posted by Tamara on June 13th, 2008Yesterday, we were hobnobbing with the Wall Street Journal’s Sasha Wilkins. Sasha’s a fashion writer and travel scribe, who’s trotted the globe for Condê Nast Traveller and the Daily Telegraph, but has been treading the streets of Manhattan for the last year. Here’s what she’s found on her wanderings:
For cakes and all things sweet The Sugar Sweet Sunshine Bakery on Rivington Street.
For the quintessential all-American Burger The Shake Shack in Madison Square Park – get there early or eat a late lunch; the queues are quite dramatic between 1 and 2.30pm.
For the best vintage clothing Beacons Closet in Williamsburg (North 11th Street).
For breakfast The Country Inn in at the Carlton Hotel (34th Street and Madison) does a cracking spread.
For dinner Head to West Village and settled in at Bobo, the fashion industry’s favourite hangout, a shabby-chic dining clubhouse with a lovely outdoor terrace
For fun
Watch free movies on Bryant Park’s huge outdoor screen.
Go horse riding in Central Park (read Sasha’s article about her mounted experiences here)
For architecture Check out the rebuilt mediaeval French cloisters overlooking the Hudson at the Met.
