Just been to the launch of wonderful new Serpentine Bar & Kitchen in Hyde Park – probably one of the best new sundowner spots in our fair capital (assuming the sun is shining in London that day, of course). Going for dinner there too in a couple of weeks so will report back asap…

I <3 the LAB bar. That's been my favourite cocktail hideaway for years, ever since I went on dates there when I was at uni. Never a bad mix.

Thanks for the info. Bar Constante touts itself as the "Cradle of the Daiquiri" but you can expect something a bit different. Instead of the standard strawberry or banana varieties. Try the elderflower - or perhaps a sage – mojito. Sheraton Park Tower offers possibly the most expensive cocktail in the world. Prices begin at £3,000 for the Diamond Cocktail, which is a heady concoction of Rémy Martin and champagne - oh, and a diamond ring or necklace is served on the side. Besides these, London is full of luxury and budgetary bars.

Just to throw in my two cents – I spent an unhealthy proportion of Saturday evening in new place on Hackney's organic-mum strip, Broadway Market. It's rare that I get excited about new bars (a battered armchair and an eclectic jukebox are all I need), but the Off-Broadway Bar is pretty darn special. Modelled on a long-gone watering hole in New York's East Village, it does coffee by day (and it's freshly ground Americanos only, none of your milky choc-spattered froth here, thank you), and stellar cocktails by night. It's the kind of place you can lose whole days in, just chatting, supping, playing games and munching cheese. I shall be raving about it for, ooh, at least a week. So, go. Or rather, don't, because I want to ensure I get a table next time.
