We manufacture leather luggage and all i can say about sizes and restrictions is that they change on a monthly basis - very frustrating for all! As Lucy pointed out, it is very important to check with the airline (especially the budget ones). Most of the larger long-haul airlines allow larger carry-on bags. And if you fly first-class - i wouldn't worry!!

Many thanks for the excellent read. I often think that travel accessories are bland - but I have always done 'adventure' travel, where, perhaps you can't take a box of Fortnum and Mason tea bags, but instead you stuff some PG Tips into a plastic bag. I am thinking of branching out into doing more interesting travel accessories, some luxury ones as well.

Hi Marie,

Carry-on baggage restrictions can depend on who you're flying with and where you're flying from, so the best thing you can do is check with your airline or visit the airport's information site. However, most carriers allow you one standard-sized carry-on bag measuring no bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22ins x 18ins x 10ins), including the handle, pockets and wheels, PLUS a small laptop bag or handbag.

We reckon you're best off carrying as little as possible though, so try to limit your hand luggage – some airports still have a one-bag policy. There may also still be restrictions on quantities of liquid you can take on-board; see Gatwick's Passenger Tips page for a guide.

I like the quick-drying microfibre towel because of its quick drying feature - useful during rainy days; same with the Clear zipper packs.
