Budget boutique breaks – the best hotel offers

Given the current storm in our collective piggy banks, we thought now might be an opportune moment to shamelessly plug politely draw attention to a few of the fantabulous boutique hotel offers that are currently glittering away enticingly on the main Smith site.

Every month Mr & Mrs Smith’s hotel guru, the lovely Peggy, puts on her wangling hat and goes head to head with a selection of the finest boutique hotels in the Smith collection, coming out of the fray with a suitcase-load of exclusive special offers, cut-price deals, free nights, and delicious extras exclusively for Smith members, potentially saving hundreds – sometimes thousands – of pounds on hotel bookings.

This month, our Pegs has worked even more miraculous miracles than she normally does, with heaps of three-nights-for-the-price-of-two bargains, some hotels offering BOGOF deals, and a swathe of heavily slashed room rates. It’s like the January sales, but without the rain, the elbows and the anger.

Here’s a soupcon sampling of some of the more eyebrow-raising, wallet-stroking hotel offers we have this month:

In the UK:

For a laid-back break…

The Crab & Lobster, West SussexThe Crab & Lobster, a 16th-century inn on the West Sussex coast, has dropped its room rates by 25 per cent for members, meaning that rooms are now just £90 a night (normally £120) for a Standard Room, or £105 a night (normally £140) for a Deluxe, including breakfast and taxes.

For a city-luxury weekend…

Brilliantly situated in the heart of Kensington, Kit Kemp’s dashingly decorated Pelham is offering three nights for the price of two, which – our office mathematicians tell us – is an astonishing 33.3333333… per cent off. Or, in other words, £510 for a three-night stay in a Luxury Room, or £560 for a Deluxe Room.

For a stately stay…Fawsley Hall, Northamptonshire

Northamptonshire’s grandly gardened historic home, Fawsley Hall has cut two nights stays to half-price, so members pay just £210–£225 for a two-night stay in a Club Room, or £265–£275 for a Superior, including breakfast and taxes.

For slick Spanish style…

At €90 a night, Town House in Marbella is great value even without the three-for-two discount, but when you can bag a three-night break for just €220 (including breakfast and tax), its intimate pension atmosphere is even more appealing.

For Moroccan magic…Madada Mogador, Essaouira, Morocco

With its beach-side location in cool coastal Essaouira, Madada Mogador is the perfect antidote to the madness of Marrakech, and now it’s offering 25 per cent off its rooms, there’s never been a better time to sample its sea-view setting. Members now pay €82.50 a night (normally €110) for a Standard Room, or €112.50 a night (normally €150) for a Superior.

This is just a smattering of the hotel offers currently running. There are literally* millions more available to book on our hotel offers pages. You do have to be a Smith member to take advantage of them, but given that membership (which starts at £15) entitles you to more travel benefits than you can shake a martini at, it’s a wonder you haven’t signed up already.

Oh, and don’t forget to check out our budget boutique hotels too.

*not ‘literally’ in the literal sense, you understand.
