Hi HH. Yes, Adelboden probably isn't the first destination you'd think of if you were launching a Swiss hotel collection, BUT Smith picks its destinations based on whether there are hotels we feel are worth raving about – and it just so happens that Adelboden's Solis Cambrian is one of the loveliest we've found.

I confess, I haven't visited in summer (although I understand there are some great walking trails), but when I was there in December and the whole valley was thigh-deep in snow, it was simply magical. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Bern region...

Sorry to say so , but my last memory of "Royalty infested" Adelboden dates back eons ago....standing on top of its highest run ....pointing my skies downhill....having to skate downhill avoiding making swings or turns...because it was raining cats and dogs...Adelboden's altitude is a bit low under the present climate conditions...I believe I know cause I pass it annually underway to my fav skiing destination.
From Bern you pass Fruetigen to the Steg - Kandersteg Autoverlad. When there is no snow in Fruetigen Adelboden is not ok....
I was really amazed to read this is your first Swiss addition....

Mmm my desk-knotted shoulders are begging me to put them in that Jacuzzi; what an amazing view! Also quite interested in cheesy dipping-type snacks right now....
