September starters: new boutique hotels in Texas, Cornwall and Hampshire
Posted by Caroline on September 8th, 2009Enrolling at Smith school this September we have a selection of star pupils in the shape of a Texan treat or two and an aeronautics-embracing affair in Hampshire…
After traversing Texas in search of Austin’s best boutique hotel offerings, we unearthed Hotel San José - a hippy-at-heart bungalow-style bolthole with a mellow mood, arty vibe and leafy courtyard in the city’s South Congress district.
In the same area is Hotel Saint Cecilia, a rock ‘n’ roll collection of stylish studios and boho bungalows, named after the patron saint of music. This sultry and sensual estate has a tranquil setting just off the main strip.
Back in the UK, the St Moritz Hotel joins our Cornwall collection - this ’30s art deco resort with ocean views welcomes families, couples and groups of friends to its lively hub (equipped with Cowshed spa). And down in Hampshire, we’ve found the Aviator Hotel, a styled-in-the-skies boutique retreat in Farnborough.
Next month, we’ll be busy across the channel in preparation for our upcoming France book (published summer 2010), gathering up the sleekest and most stylish Gallic hotels of them all. Look out for a cherry-picked château near Normandy and a remastered 17th-century mill in Burgundy for a start…

The St. Moritz hotel looks fab and perfect for families too.

Ooh I love that part of Cornwall - used to go there in February half terms and always had fun - cycling along the camel trail, fish and chips at Rick’s in Padstow and loved the little chapel of St Enodoc’s in the dunes near Rock. I can blend in in my Boden velvet jeans with the best of them.
