After a lively breakfast at Blakes, a look-in at the Gore’s ecclesiastically elegant bar and a tour through the wonky floors of historic Hazlitt’s (not to mention a celeb spot or two that pushed our standard Chiswick-HQ sightings - Lee from Nineties boy band 911 - out the window), we lingered at No.5 Maddox Street…

Our favourite bits We love the Big Bar - packed with ‘good’ and ‘bad’ options such as noble organic penne and pasta sauce and naughty Divine chocolate and Jelly Bellies - and the personal grocery shopping service that will fill your cupboards with organic and fair-trade foods. There’s also free access to a private gym on nearby Kingly Street, copies of Time Out in every suite and paraben-free Ren skincare. And the eco-credentials are topped off with the ‘e cloths’ used for cleaning. As much as possible is recycled and everything that can be is fair trade.
