Summer stays from Kent to Cape Town

This month’s hunt for hip hotels has taken us to lands familiar and foreign. We lingered on British turf for two seaside retreats – The Reading Rooms, a boutique B&B in Kent, and relaxed family-friendly retreat, South Sands, in Devon – before leaving the beach behind in honour of a reincarnated city slicker: Town Hall Hotel & Apartments (right) in East London.

Next up, we scanned the Continental horizon and discovered Maison Moschino, a fashionable Milanese marvel with seductively surreal boudoirs. Having tangoed our way across to South America, Legado Mitico‘s (below) quirky bohemian B&B in Buenos Aires was the latest addition to our wish list.

Up in San Antonio, Hotel Havana caught our attention – this Cuban design den has a devilishly good bar. Our roving eye wandered across the globe and settled upon Les Cascades on 52, a terrace-toting retreat in Cape Town with sleek design and dazzling ocean views.

There’s no stopping us next month, as we check out some more stylish Stateside stays and an Istanbul jewel or two…

Weeks before first joining Mr & Mrs Smith's editorial team as assistant editor, Sarah Jappy was interviewing hot blondes in Copenhagen for a virginmedia.com city guide. Having penned food porn for Blue Tomato and fashion features at Itchy City Guides, Sarah was delighted to bring an appetite for alliteration and expert opinion on hot topics including: the marzipan to pastry ratio of the perfect almond croissant; which shop-bought hollandaise sauce generates the best eggs benedict and where to source the capital’s most drool-worthy moules marinière. That's not to even mention her 12 years of Irish dancing prowess. She has now moved Down Under to head up Smith's Melbourne editorial team.
