Usually when your job requires you spend the night in…
Hung up your stockings? Wrapped all your presents? Taken the turkey out of the freezer? Poured yourshelf anozher sherry? Then (before tomorrow’s merrymaking mayhem begins) settle back and indulge in a little fantasy holidaymaking, courtesy of this week’s star hotel turn, The House Hotel Nisantasi in Istanbul. Why this week? Aside from enjoying the symmetry of being in Turkey when, this week, it’s more traditional for Turkey to be in you, Smith members can book three nights for the price of two at The House Hotel Nisantasi in Istanbul until the end of March 2011.
Best bits? We love Suites 51 and 61 for their breathtaking Bosphorus views; their white marble bathrooms, cocoa colours and Autoban accoutrements aren’t bad, either. Aspiring mixologists can practise in-room: there’s a shaker, cocktail glasses and plenty of liquor.
Mr & Mrs Smith say ‘Well-dressed hands are at work at this boutique hotel in Istanbul’s flashiest neighbourhood. What’s more, they’re French ones. ‘Innovation and ingenuity are partners throughout: the 40s-style smooth-lined wooden furniture looks molten into shape, and walls covered in fabric have inventive and irregular lighting built in. As well as a cocktail-making kit, rooms come with a wine rack set into the wall, and here is where the French flair for detail comes into its own; like everything else, the wines are selected with only the best in mind. With Prada as its closest Sisli street sibling, it’s just as well the House Hotel Nisantasi is impeccably turned out…’
