Appy now? The Smiths on your iPhone

UPDATE, April 4, 2014Download the new Mr & Mrs Smith app from iTunes here.

What fits in your pocket, takes you to exciting places, is gorgeous to look at and is chock-full of sexy? The Mr & Mrs Smith iPhone app, of course.

It’s been a long time coming, but hey, we’re perfectionists, and have been tinkering and tweaking away behind the scenes to bring you what we reckon is the best boutique hotel app out there. And, after much debate over how much to charge for it (someone has to pay to keep us in cabernet and macaroons, after all), our better angels took control and we decided to make it as free as sunshine.

Mr & Mrs Smith: Plan & Play not only does all the things you’d expect it to (ie let find you find and book your perfect hotel, admire fabulous photos, and browse the latest offers at the 700+ boutique bombshells in the Smith collection), it also, like us, has a naughty side…

Shake it baby Play a saucy Smithy version of dirty-weekend classic Truth or Dare (NB Smith takes no responsibility should you be embarrassed/slapped/divorced/arrested as a result of playing).

Get in the mood Our clever TuneSmith gadget uses your iTunes library to generate the most seductive soundtrack for your stay, and allows you to set the backdrop to suit how passionate you’re feeling.

Last longer in bed Use the get-out-of-work excuses generator to send a ready-made email excuse for a duvet day – just pick an template, edit as appropriate and hit send.

Learn new tricks Play strip poker, master the art of boules, mix cocktails from your minibar, perfect your picnic packing, or use our handy ‘speak the lingo’ guide to get by in Europe.

We’ll be adding even more features over the coming months, and, although it’s iPhone-only at the moment, look out for Smith apps on other platforms soon.

It’s fun, it’s free and it’s fabulous: download Mr & Mrs Smith: Plan and Play now.

If you don’t believe us, check out the reviews on Hotel Chatter and The Next Web. And, if you’re still not convinced, Apple’s iTunes store reckons that the Smith app contains ‘frequent/intense mature/suggestive themes and frequent/mild profanity or crude humour’, which sounds like a ringing endorsement to us…

Before joining Mr & Mrs Smith, managing editor Anthony Leyton was at The Independent, writing about universities for the Push Guides. As you can imagine, it was a tough task persuading him to exchange league tables for luxury holiday retreats and halls of residence for hip hotels. Anthony has penned pieces for publications both top-drawer (The Telegraph) and top-shelf (Fiesta), and he has had a love of travel ever since he found bullet holes in the walls of a hotel room in New Orleans. He also has too many pets. But that's another tale altogether.
