August additions: new boutique hotels from Turkey to Mexico and Sri Lanka
Posted by Sarah L on August 1st, 2011This month, our hotel hunt unearthed three types of Turkish delight: in cutting-edge Istanbul, we were wowed by Autoban design and Ottoman grandeur at The House Hotel Bosphorus; on the glittering, glamorous Bodrum Peninsula, we fell for cultured Casa dell’Arte Residence and Maçakizi’s model-graced decks.
We also extended a warm welcome to two Mexico City finds (design-conscious Hotel Brick and smart, slick Las Alcobas), the gorgeous Greek Kinsterna Hotel & Spa in East Peloponnese, and arty, historic Canal House in Amsterdam.
In South Asia, we made our first foray into Sri Lanka’s lush Hill Country and discovered a tea-plantation escape that flaunts verdant views and blissful brews. In coastal Bentota, we checked into Bawa House 87, a trio of antique-adorned pavilions set among 17 acres of graceful gardens.
Next month, expect fab new hotel finds from Paris to New York, with Asian treats in Phuket, Jaipur and Kandy.
