Asian spa hotel: Como Shambhala Estate, Bali

Whether you’re desperate for a New Year detox or just fancy some pampering as a January pick-you-up, Smith’s pick of five stylish Asian spa hotels should prove just the tonic. Lie back and let the masseur take the strain…

Asian spa hotel: Como Shambhala Estate, Bali1: COMO SHAMBHALA ESTATE, BALI, INDONESIA
Serious spa junkies swear by Como Shambhala Estate in Bali, a chic retreat in a secluded jungle setting near Ubud. After a wellness consultation at airy Ojas spa, embark on a holistic programme of Ayurvedic treatments, massage, yoga, anti-ageing therapies or outdoor activities.

We love: Como’s divine own-label spa products and the healthy, organic cuisine.

Hot offer: Smith members get 20 per cent off a three- to seven-night Discover Como Shambhala package.

Asian spa hotel: Capella Singapore, Singapore

2: CAPELLA SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE
Team a stopover in Singapore with a soothing spa break at luxe coastal getaway Capella Singapore on Sentosa Island, home to highly regarded Auriga spa. Linger in the wet area with its herbal steam room, ice fountains and vitality pool fringed by foliage.

We love: The four signature treatments designed around the lunar cycles and Singapore’s seasons, which harness massage and organic oils to stimulate, reenergise, balance and cleanse.

Asian spa: Fusion Maia Resort, Hoi An3: FUSION MAIA RESORT, HOI AN, VIETNAM
Set within tropical gardens, Fusion Maia’s day spa is the biggest in Central Vietnam. If that’s not impressive enough, all spa services are included in rates, from manicures to all-out pampering sessions. Jacuzzis, steam and sauna rooms, and a yoga pavilion beckon…

We love: If you need a break from blissing out, Hoi An’s famous tailors can whip you up a new outfit in hours.

Hot offers: Check out luxe-for-less deals at Fusion Maia Resort, including a seven-night package with all spa treatments thrown in.

Asian spa hotel: The Sarojin, Phang Nga4: THE SAROJIN, PHANG NGA, THAILAND
Surrounded by serene coconut groves with views out over the estuary, beach and Andaman Sea, Pathways Spa at the Sarojin boutique hotel in Phang Nga is the perfect chill-out escape.

We love: Hard to choose between the romantic couples’ spa baths and the yoga and tai chi deck, set on stilts and shaded by mangroves.

Hot offers: Enjoy a seductive spa stay for less at the Sarojin.

Asian spa hotel: Tree of Life Resort & Spa, Jaipur5: TREE OF LIFE RESORT & SPA, JAIPUR, INDIA
Rajasthan, in north-west India, is known for dreamy desertscapes, temples and camel trekking, but it also makes for a romantic spa escape. Set near the ‘Pink City’ Jaipur, Tree of Life Resort & Spa is a top spot for pampering, with a pretty pool. Book the couple’s retreat at Ekam spa and you and your partner will have exclusive use of the Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.

We love: The honeymoon-friendly Luxury Pool & Spa Villas, complete with garden, plunge pool, Jacuzzi, marble bath tub, waterfall shower and massage pavilion. Bliss.

Hot offer: Book a January bonanza deal at Tree of Life, with a minimum three-night stay, and get a free 60-minute couple’s Holistic Massage.

  2. I was at Fusion Maia recently. There is no catch – you really can have as many spa treatments as you like. You are allowed to prebook two a day and add more in resort as time and therapist availability allows. Try the laughter yoga, it’s… hilarious!
