Luxury Swag Camp, Blue Mountains: hotel of the week

Posted by Sarah Lewis on March 30th, 2012

Less hotel of the week, more ‘Bush & Breakfast’ of the week – if struggling with a tent holds no appeal but you still fancy the idea of communing with nature, pitch up at Luxury Swag Camp, an open-air boutique hotel in the Blue Mountains, just two hours’ drive west of Sydney.

Why this week? Time’s running out for you to experience this glamping getaway, as the hotel closes for winter from May until September. A stay at the unique all-inclusive camp includes meals, drinks and guided tours, and if you book a stay of two nights or more before 31 May, you’ll also get free private land transfers from Sydney, valued at AU$500. Click here for full details of the Luxury Swag Camp offer.

Luxury Swag Camp – Blue Mountains hotel, AustraliaOur favourite bits What makes for a real sense of luxury here is the personal hosting of your guide – as the only group here, you’ll enjoy their undivided attention. The guide’s passion for bush walking and fishing is obvious, and the camp is the perfect place to forget the 21st century and enjoy the fruits of the land (and river). Watch goannas and platypus mooching about. Swim and fish. Walk and talk. Let the kids run free. Just don’t try to get mobile reception…

Mr & Mrs Smith say… Coining the phrase ‘Wild Bush Luxury’, the team behind this cool camping creation in the Blue Mountains has taken a very Australian experience – sleeping out in the bush – and given it an upscale makeover. All three timber swag decks, scattered separately in the bush, are identical and very romantic in a wilderness safari way. Be warned though, they’re fairly simple and you will be sleeping under the stars (not in a tent or cabin).
