New for September: Smith hotels in French Polynesia, Marrakech, Marbella, Mexico and more
Posted by Rachel Juarez-Carr on September 5th, 2012
This month, we dipped into French Polynesia, discovering Manava Suite Resort, a surfers’ paradise in Tahiti; Moorea Pearl Resort & Spa, a lagoon-side hotel on Moorea; Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort & Spa, a hamlet of overwater bungalows in Bora Bora (above); and Tikehau Pearl Beach Resort, a secluded escape in the Tuamotus.
In Malaysia, we unearthed Villa Samadhi, a seductive haven in Kuala Lumpur, and Japamala Resort, a relaxed Tioman Island retreat. Thailand delivered Akaryn with its pool-toting suites in
Koh Samui, and Indonesia dished up a Bali beach break by the name of Anantara Seminyak.
In Europe, we explored La Mirande, a mediaeval mansion in Provence; Borgo Egnazia, a pampering spa stay in Puglia; and Hotel Puente Romano, a shoreside marvel in Marbella (right). Just over the Mediterranean in Morocco, the palm-fringed hideaway of Dar Nanka in Marrakech caught our eye.
Stateside, we found The Roger – a stylish New York City bolthole – before crossing to the West Coast to meet and sun-kissed Californian sanctuary Oceana Santa Barbara. Then we headed south, falling for Casa Sandra, a boho Mexican island getaway on the Riviera Maya.
Hopping to the Caribbean, we were first wowed by the luxe coastal cottages of Cayman Cotton Tree in the Cayman Islands and then by the Ralph Lauren-designed Round Hill Hotel & Villas in Jamaica (above).

Where’s Mexico in this article?

@Cbaker It’s at the end of the penultimate paragraph: “Then we headed south, falling for Casa Sandra, a boho Mexican island getaway on the Riviera Maya.”
