New for December: Smith hotels in Scotland, Portugal, Italy, Australia, the US and Canada

This month, we started our search for stylish stays by sipping whisky at The Atholl, a suite-only townhouse in Edinburgh. After all that hard work, we headed south to soak up the rays at romantic Tuscan village retreat Monteverdi and relax at Imani Country House, a rural haven in Portugal.

Over in Australia, we partied first at QT Sydney (the city’s hottest new hotel) and then at stylish Melbourne bolthole Ovolo Hotel. We also fell for the family-friendly Hayman resort on the Great Barrier Reef, QT Gold Coast with its views of the surf and the tropical-modern QT Port Douglas.
Stateside, we dressed to impress at dapper Miami shoreside stay The James Royal Palm, after which we headed west for a round of croquet at the idyllic Rancho Valencia in California and some our yoga asanas at Lumeria Maui in Hawaii. Then up in Canada, an Asian-influenced city slicker – Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver caught our eye, along with The Wickaninnish Inn, a waterfront woodland lodge on Vancouver Island.
Check in with us this time next month for some New Year travel treats…

When you get to Montreal, check out Le Saint Sulpice Hotel (www.lesaintsulpice.com). This Old Montreal hotel has exquisite rooms, and excellent location, and comfortable, stylish luxury executive suites. Room rental (Montreal) at Le Saint Sulpice Hotel is affordable and it’s right where you want to be, in the hisoric Old Port. If the rooftop terrace doesn’t convince you that this hotel is among the best in Canada (according to Conde Nast readers), try out the hotel spa or the cuisine at the hotel restaurant.
