Juliet Kinsman: When I was told our second show would…
We’ve got something to suit every style-hungry hotel lover’s taste this month, from sleek city stays to beautiful beachy Edens. We started our travels in Morocco’s culture-rich coastal hideout, Essaouira, where we found pale and interesting riad Dar Maya and eccentric Villa de l’O in the old medina and exuberantly chic Le Jardin de Douars out among the argan groves (above) – three new Moroccan marvels to add to our carefully curated boutique hotel collection.
Then we headed east to the Indian Ocean, where the tiny dots on the map that make up the Maldives gave us the tropical playground of Six Senses Laamu (right) and diver’s paradise One&Only Reethi Rai. Our adventures in Asia continued among Indonesia’s islands, where we spent our time lounging luxuriously in the seductive private villas of One Eleven Bali. Once thoroughly relaxed, we were ready to face the big city: off to Tokyo we flew, where minimalist Gate Hotel Kaminarimon awaited.
Next, the Americas beckoned. New York City’s knowingly hip King & Grove Williamsburg, with its Manhattan views and Michelin star (right), got us hooked on cool spots with skyline views, so off to the Thompson Chicago we went, where the floor-to-ceiling windows offer winning Windy City vistas.
Our final stop was a Caribbean beauty, the Viceroy Anguilla, where the British West Indies’ breezy bluffs and blue seas set the scene and Kelly Wearstler’s signature style makes the Viceroy a de rigueur stop for island-hopping sophisticates.
