Juliet Kinsman: When I was told our second show would…
Last week, we held our very first Smith Hotel Awards – we were celebrating our 10th birthday, so we thought it an ideal time to reward some of the most amazing hotels we’ve discovered during our first decade of curating collections. Almost 50,000 people voted, our expert panel of judges judged… and then we threw a massive party at the Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane.
Firstly, congratulations to all the winners! We’ll be posting our top tens for each category on this blog over the coming weeks, but for now you can check out each award’s winner and runners-up on our awards site.

Secondly, now that our hangovers have almost subsided, we’d like to send a massive thank you to all you stylish hotel fans for voting; all the expert judges for judging; Chris Golding and the Apero team from the Ampersand hotel for the top-notch nosh; Sipsmith and Fever-tree for the delicious (and strong) cocktails; Music Concierge, Crazy P and Tom Findlay of Groove Armada for the music; Hannah Lohan and her Fabled Events gang for making it all happen; the Photo Emporium for manning a fabulous photobooth; Laura Goodman for manning the Twitter desk; Jealous Sweets for sending us a beautiful blonde bearing candy; Avis for ferrying us about town with a free shuttle service; and British Airways, Luxe City Guides, International New York Times, Lavazza, Malin + Goetz, Cowshed, Blue Marine, Harvey Nichols, Kiki de Montparnasse, Graham and Green and Trunki for all their support.
We’d also like to thank everyone on the Smith team who made the whole thing possible, our original Mr & Mrs Smith – James and Tamara Lohan – who stepped up in the spotlight and did a spectacular job of announcing the winners, and, of course, every single one of you gorgeous partygoers who danced with us almost all night (including Smith’s own Simon Westcott, Rodrigo Calvo and Mary Garvin, who trekked to London from our Melbourne and New York offices).
Here are a few snaps from the night; you can see all the photos in our Facebook album.
