Hotel of the week: Thirty Two, Cotswolds

Friday, August 14th, 2009

It all began with a fabulous Portuguese farmhouse back in July. We’ve since raved about an A-list friendly  LA villa, a cosy Norfolk cottage and a traditional Thames-side inn. But we just can’t keep our hotel-loving minds still and now we’re  excited about — drum roll, please — a  boutique guesthouse in the Cotswolds’ capital, [...]

Toasts, not toasters: The Wine Wedding List

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Love, honesty, respect and… wine. All key ingredients for a long and happy marriage. Which is why it’s not a bad idea to start as you mean to go on with a wedding list composed of malbecs and merlots. Caribbean Dreams

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Just before Christmas, James and I set sail on a hotel-hunting trip to the Caribbean, where we were completely bowled over by one hotel in particular – a honeymoon-perfect mountainside hideaway on St Lucia with just 29 rooms, which we’ll be adding to the Smith collection post-haste.

Last week, we caught up with one of the team members behind director Francis Ford Coppola’s luxury eco-escape, Blancaneaux Lodge, a collection of cabanas in the majestic jungle-clad mountains. Here you can go on jaguar-tracking treks, spy hummingbirds hovering over rare orchids, explore the extensive Mayan ruins or play spot the Apocalypse Now prop – [...]

Forget coffee*, we BlogSmiths have a new obsession: cheese. As Lucy – who’s currently sunning herself in the South of France in a rather special Smith hotel – mentioned last week during our wedding/honeymoon bonanza, I’m currently in the process of coordinating my own forthcoming nuptials (which, for those of you who haven’t yet had [...]

To celebrate the launch of the Mr & Mrs Smith wedding pages, we’ve persuaded Brides magazine editor Deborah Joseph to divulge her Little White Book of wedding secrets – and trust us, what she doesn’t know about weddings and honeymoons probably ain’t worth knowing: Brides is the UK’s biggest-selling bridal magazine.
Here she reveals her [...]

After another weekend of scrambling to pick up suits from the dry-cleaners, frantic headlong dashes down the motorway, whirlwind costume changes in hotel rooms, getting lost en route to tiny village churches and then realising you’re actually an hour early, the summer-wedding season is officially (read: thankfully) over.
Hopefully – if it was you saying ‘I [...]
