Last night, the Smith team donned their frilliest finery and headed to Mayfair’s St James’s Hotel & Club to meet and mingle with some of our most long-standing GoldSmith members.
We checked into a penthouse suite, cracked open a bottle of Moët (OK, a few bottles of Moët) and indulged in some curious canapés (on the menu: oxtail chopped up and reformed with avocado into delicious green squares, miniature mugs of mushroom soup and petite pots of foam-topped foie gras).
In between lots of oohs and aahs about everyone’s favourite Smith hotels and forthcoming travel plans, master mixologist Joel taught us all a thing or two about the art of the cocktail. Around a table covered in fine bottles of spirits and the odd olive, we set about learning how to mix the most magical mojitos and coolest cosmopolitans. And all in just 15 minutes. A most worthy use of time, if you ask us.
Out on the roof terrace and under the clear London skies, the sun set on our soirée. Our GoldSmiths trundled home armed with improved shaking and stirring skills, finely tuned holiday agendas and new friends in the form of the GoldSmith travel consultants. Ahh.
