We will understand if, as you zip your way by speedboat to boutique hotel Baros and catch sight of the curve of villas suspended just over the ocean, you start to daydream about never leaving the Maldives. Spend your holiday on this island resort reclining on the white sand beach, snorkelling over the fish-filled reef, and admiring the Indian Ocean. You may even be tempted to ‘misplace’ your passport.

WHY THIS WEEK?
The Maldives is a year-round charmer, but Baros is making a romantic escape even more tempting with an exclusive offer. To indulge in the offer’s special treats (in addition to your Smith extras), including a candlelit dinner for two on the beach, spa credit, a bottle of champagne and chocolates on arrival and 10 per cent off your stay, book your holiday of four nights or more by 20 July 2016.
OUR FAVOURITE BITS
Baros had us at Pool Water Villa; with unadulterated ocean views (both beyond to the horizon and below to the fishes) these secluded holiday havens can make you feel like you’re honeymooning on your own private island. Lounge and float at your leisure, or wake up with dawn yoga and go for a spot of snorkelling over the reef. Watch the sun set over the ocean with an apéritif in hand, then take a leisurely stroll to the Lighthouse Restaurant or have an intimate dinner in your villa – all waterfront dining options, naturally.
MR & MRS SMITH SAY… ‘A Water Villa on the sunset side is our home for the next few days, a conical, thatched overwater pavilion raised on stilts with full-height windows and a deck overlooking the sea. Mrs Smith’s sun-worshipping proclivities kick in immediately, and she disrobes and parks herself on a lounger for the afternoon. Meanwhile, I quickly establish what is to become my favourite activity: marine twitching.’ Read our full anonymous review.
YOU SAY… ‘This is a paradise island with amazing service and fantastic accommodation.’ Kate, Silversmith, stayed 13 February 2014
