Barn Cottage Smith Card offer

Paris, London and New York – eat your heart out. A small, green caravan on the shores of North Cornwall is where I found the most soul-stirring manna.  I confess that in the name of work I’ve been lucky enough to sip champagne cocktails overlooking the Manhattan skyline, I’ve eaten Michelin-starred tasting menus in centuries-old restaurants, but little experiences could beat cake and a cuppa on a wooden stool at Margaret’s Rustic Tea Room at Northcott Mouth. And best of all, guests to Smith & Friends holiday let Barn Cottage in Devon will be able to enjoy this on the house – or van – as their exclusive Smith card offer.

Serving suggestion

Wend your way down the winding path to this National Trust-owned beach, park up, and then provided the tide is on your side, work up an appetite for a serious carb-load with a stroll through postcard-perfect rock pools. Follow the dusty track inland and find the very campervan which saw her mum hosting teatime delights since the Forties, where today Margaret tempts in-the-know tourists and loyal locals with flapjacks, scones and all the trimmings.
