Desert Palm luxury hotel in DubaiOur favourite bits Rooms have more gadgets, gloss and hi-tech trickery than you could shake a camel-stick at: Alessi, Reidel, Bang & Olufsen, Bose, Voss, Ren, Apple… the amenities list reads like a compendium of top-notch contemporary design. We’re particularly enamoured with Palm Suites, for some of the best hotel bathrooms ever: top-lit, free-standing bath, fashion-shoot-dreamy drapes, oodles of storage, a walk-in shower made for two and twin sinks. Enjoy night-vision views of Dubai’s distant twinkling skyline across a luminous green of a pristine polo pitch while you sip cocktails on the terrace.

Mr & Mrs Smith say… ‘After 15 minutes’ drive through a sandy landscape, we sweep into the low-rise luxury of the Per Aquum Desert Palm Dubai complex, home to not only the hotel, but also a world-class polo club with stables for 300 horses and a collection of low-key residences owned by various CEOs. All this is set in beautifully manicured, surprisingly verdant grounds, punctuated with a stylish water features among bougainvillaea and jasmine. After a swift check-in, at which we are given the most delicious welcome drink in the world, we’re shown to our room. It is very spacious – certainly big enough to have three phones (I’ve always wondered who makes calls on the loo), a generously sized bed clad in Josephine Home linens (we asked) and a massive open-plan skylit bathroom.’ Read the full Per Aquum Desert Palm Dubai hotel review…

Desert Palm hotel, DubaiYou say… ‘Per Aquum Desert Palm Dubai is a gem in an oasis of glam, sparkle, glitz, gold and all things absolutely blingin’ fabulous. Having spent most of the week in the main drag tripping over some 5,000 lawyers at an International Conference and WAGs with Hermès handbags, it was an utter pleasure to arrive at the cool, tranquil and beautiful Per Aquum Desert Palm Dubai. Our Pool Suite was stunning and had every luxury we could want; we spent most of our time there just chilling. The polo match played on the Friday was great and the family atmosphere perfect. The efficient staff were very experienced and attentive. We ordered a barbecue for the Friday night in our suite: this was the best idea I’ve experienced in a hotel. Home from home, but done in the most fabulous way: salads, fresh meats, fish, fruits and more – we had such a great experience.’
