With a history that includes modelling and fronting a rock band, Anine Bing knows a little something about cool cred (she’s also lending her expertise to our Mr & Mrs Smith Awards panel, helping choose the Hottest Hotel Soundtrack). Her eponymous line of of sleek leather, updated basics, and the kind of slouchy-but-chic sweats you want to live in is quintessential California cool, so we asked the rocker-turned-designer about her favourite haunts in Los Angeles.
Caffeine fix Go Get Em Tiger on Larchmont. They have the best almond latte in town.
Where do you go to unwind? I go get a massage at the Thai massage place on Larchmont. So good and inexpensive.
Favourite place for cocktail hour Chateau Marmont is a great place for people watching. It’s a fun scene!
Dinner destination Pace in Laurel Canyon has been one of my favourite restaurants for over 10 years now. I love the food and the vibe.
Best late-night spot I very rarely go out these days, but if I do, Soho House is always fun.
Can’t miss shopping Can I say the Anine Bing boutique on Third Street in West Hollywood? It’s one of our first flagship stores and I really like the space. There are also so many cute cafes and restaurants nearby, as well as other stores, so it’s a good destination for lunch and shopping.
Where do you go to get cultured? Mouche Gallery. I love their collections – this is where I’ve found a lot of great photography, including work by Terry O’Neill.
What place makes you feel like a local? The Rose Bowl Flea Market is amazing. I love collecting gems, and I often go there to find inspiration for my next collection or to find furniture for my house or boutiques.
