This week we’re agape at the Algarve coast and the hip boutique hotels perched near its sun-splashed beaches. In the seaside town of Sagres, Memmo Baleeira caught our eye and stole our hearts – a sleek minimalist sugar cube of a hotel perched on a grassy ocean overlook, just moments away from chilled-out coastline.

Memmo Baleeira hotel Sagres

Style White and bright
Setting Sunkissed Algarve shore

Why this week?
We could wax lyrical about the sunbathing-ready white-sand beaches, the camera-flirting ocean views and the Sixties-influenced retro style of the rooms, but we know we’d be preaching to the converted. Since you’re already halfway to Sagres in your daydreams, we’ll give you a reason to go all the way – Smith has four fabulous offers for luxury Memmo Baleeira stays: 20 per cent off five nights or 15 per cent off three nights in a stylish sea-facing room; and 20 per cent off three nights or 25 per cent off five nights in the hotel’s immaculate suites.

Memmo Baleeira’s heart belongs to the sea – you can watch it drift by your window, gaze out to Baleeira harbour from the pool and frolic in the surf mere moments after leaving your room.  You’ll be hard pushed to find a hotel so enamoured with its surroundings; then again, after a few days here, you will be too. The hotel even owns a surf centre, for those who want to get wet and wild, but there’s no shame in just lying back on the sand and watching Sagres’ greatest asset roll gently by.

Mr & Mrs Smith say: ‘Letting the breeze in through the full-length glass doors, we’re happy we requested a room with a view – it is the kind of landscape sure to make your friends’ tongues hang out when posted as a picture on Facebook. Scandinavian chairs from the hotel’s original Sixties’ incarnation have been scrubbed up and accented with a modern Philippe Starck lamp here and a Tom Vac seat there. Our suite even has a kitchenette, with a full-size fridge.’

You say: ‘I cannot recommend Memmo Baleeira and Sagres highly enough. Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful hotel, amazing beaches, gorgeous weather and chilled understated luxury. The only downside is that we were there for one week and not two. Loved it.’ — Alexandra, SilverSmith
