Mr & Mrs Smith has teamed up with stateside epicurean expert Dean & DeLuca to launch the Global Gourmet, a new ongoing promotion that promises to tell you everything you need to know about some of the world’s finest foodie destinations. We talk to local suppliers and restaurateurs about sourcing the perfect ingredients and compiling the most mouth-watering menus, give the insider lowdown on what to eat and where to eat it, and offer a series of in-depth travel guides to making the most of each area.
The first fruit of our partnership is a focus on California’s Napa Valley. The talented team at Dean & DeLuca has handpicked the very best products from the valley’s farmers, artisans and winemakers, which allow you to get a true taste of the region, while we at Mr & Mrs Smith have selected the most stylish stays around – with exclusive free nights and discounts available at all of our boutique hotels in and around Napa.
Like a particularly delicious pie, the Global Gourmet website has been sliced up into tantalising portions, each one all a-drip with succulent morsels. The Taste It section showcases all the best produce from Napa’s verdant vales – from Redwood Hill Camellia cheese to Fabrique Delices Duck Proscuitto and Sonoma Mission olives – while See It gives you the insider lowdown on when to go, what to do, where to eat and where to drink when you’re in situ, as well as highlighting all the great discounts at nearby Mr & Mrs Smith hotels. On the Live It pages, we get to know the place through talking to the locals – this time around we, erm, chew the fat with a vintner, a restaurateur, a Dean & DeLuca store manager and a sommelier.
In Win It, we’re giving US residents the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime getaway at top Smith stay Milliken Creek Inn & Spa, as well as wine-tasting tours, dinner at the world-renowned Press restaurant and a luxury Dean & DeLuca picnic hamper packed with Napa Valley treats. Of course, if you lot in Britain and Oz want to enter, too, you could always apply for US citizenship. But we think it might be pretty hard to get – you saw what Gerard Depardieu had to go through in Green Card, didn’t you?
