Seminyak attracts a dance-till-dawn crowd, but One Eleven Bali bucks that trend with temple-quiet spa gazebos – prepped for holistic massages – and tranquil private plunge pools… all in a sleek minimalist package.

WHY THIS WEEK? Spiritual awakening? A little soul searching? Perhaps you have a touch of the Elizabeth Gilberts? Whatever you’re seeking, make Bali the setting; with a Smith-exclusive hotel offer for 25 per cent off villas, it’s a total no-brainer. And, because we believe in karma, each guest gets a free one-hour spa treatment too.

OUR FAVOURITE BITS Japanese architects and designers Shigemasa Noi and Naoya Matsumoto devised the elegantly low-key buildings and interiors. We love the airy spaces they’ve created: composed of natural wood and stone, with white linens and prim green gardens adding to the no-hair-out-of-place look. Add masseurs and morning yoga sessions and you’ll positively float by check-out.

WHAT MR & MRS SMITH SAY… ‘The staff greet us with smiles and lead us past a high wall of greenery to our room. Behind a simple wooden door, we find a lush green lawn, the sound of trickling water from the 14-metre pool, an outdoor, glass-enclosed cabana and 350 square metres of pared-back living space. There’s a blissful-looking bed decked out in simple white sheets that promises a zonked-out sleep, and a deep, rounded tub that’s all set for heavenly baths.’ Read writer by design Tamsin Bradshaw’s One Eleven Bali review.
