Dust off the togs and dive into tropical territory: with the season of sun-drenched days and balmy evenings upon us, QT Port Douglas is complementing its prime poolside by rolling out the green carpet for Moonlight Cinema sessions under the stars.

SETTING TROPICAL QUEENSLAND GARDENS

WHY THIS WEEK?
Port Douglas’ wet season has moved aside, and to make the most of newly mild evenings QT’s sprawling lawns are playing host to Moonlight Cinema soirées from 2 June (including brand-new blockbusters like Jurassic World and Ant Man). If that’s not enough, Carnivale shakes off in the final week of May if you’re one for feasting and festival fun. Plus, visibility at the Great Barrier Reef is particularly fine at this time of year, and calmer waters make for pleasant boat rides and safer snorkeling adventures. So many activities, so little time? Fear not: you can deduct 25% off stays of three nights or more – but be sure to leave some time for a sundowner by the pool.

OUR FAVOURITE BITS
The juicy citrus hues and retro-revival decor of each room deliver instant holiday-mood vibes, however it’s the indoor-outdoor lobby, bar and restaurant that bring the wow. Poolside, with its swim-up bar and white sun loungers, is hard to leave; SpaQ delivers an ocean-deep state of relaxation; and for its eclectic mix of luxuries and necessities, QTique is a better-than-your-average hotel boutique.

MR & MRS SMITH SAY…
‘Our one-bedroom garden villa is cheery, with plump yellow-and-blue pillows on the couch and bed, offsetting the neutral tones. There are screen-printed cockatoos on the bedside lamps and a ceramic fruit bowl shaped like a hand of bananas (quite fitting, as Queenslanders are affectionately known as ‘banana benders’). Master Smith gets into the spirit of fun and does a nude dash around the garden outside our villa when the afternoon tropical shower hits. It’s that kind of place.’ Read roving editor Janelle Carrigan’s full anonymous review…

Pack the sunhat and soak up QT’s special offer, or have a search of Smith’s other 25%-off hotels in Australia and New Zealand.
