With summer on the horizon, we’ve turned our attention to one of the best places in the world to spend it, adding eight new boutique hotels in the South of France to our ever-expanding online collection. So, whether you’re into château-hopping in the Languedoc winelands, or sketching the olive groves of Provence chances are we’ve got a luxury hotel or boutique B&B for you.

Here’s a taster of the new collection…

In Languedoc-Rousillon:

Baudon de Mauny

An 18th-century townhouse in the heart of old Montpellier, this stone-floored retreat somehow condenses the palatial dimensions of a country château into a five-bedroom city-centre boutique hotel.

Clos du Lethe

Originally a French farmhouse, this stunning boutique hotel near Uzès has been transformed from a crumbling mas to a luxury guesthouse.

Le Couvent d’Hérépian

A reinvented 17th-century convent with enchanting gardens, a subterranean spa and 13 suites – each one with a preloaded iPod and a full kitchen.

Maison Felisa

Owned and run by a charming Swiss couple, this boutique bed and breakfast in a little mediaeval village near Avignon has a sedate, welcoming atmosphere – and aromatherapy oil-infused Jacuzzi baths.

Le Trésor

A vintage maison de maître on the edge of Sonnac-sur-l’Hers, the little hotel has beautiful terrace gardens to while away hammock-swaying afternoons, and home-from-home comforts in one of France’s most unspoilt wine regions.

In Bordeaux:

Chateaux de la Couronne

This 16th-century château immersed in landscaped parkland is a restfully rustic urbane haven, with witty 60s and 70s design flourishes.

Le Relais du Franc Mayne

Surrounded by seven acres of lush St-Emilion vineyard, this 400-year-old château is part boutique hotel, part working winery – and guests are treated to tours and tastings galore.

In Provence: (

Domaine des Andéols

Now this is something special – a cluster of individual stone houses set in swathes of Provence countryside. Cuisine comes courtesy of Michelin legend Alain Ducasse, and each house is packed with artworks and cutting-edge design pieces.
