Oh we do like to be beside the seaside, oh we do like to be beside the sea – especially when bedding down in a multi-talented modernist resort overlooking the Camel Estuary, with a Cowshed spa and a brasserie restaurant to meet all our epicurean needs. St Moritz Hotel debuts as our latest hotel of the week: expect blustery coastal walks, surf sessions, heart-meltingly friendly staff, and lashings of good, wholesome British fun.
Why this week Stay for less with St Moritz Hotel’s offer: book a two-night stay in October and save 35 per cent.
Our favourite bits We love the wealth of activities, the buzzy restaurant and bar, the stylish, contemporary rooms and the indulgent spa. Factor in friendly, smiley staff, a reliably great restaurant and the rugged coastal setting, and satisfaction is guaranteed.
Mr & Mrs Smith say ‘Overlooking the dramatic salty expanses of the Camel Estuary, the St Moritz Hotel looks at first glance as though a 1930s ocean liner has decided to dock a few metres inland and drop anchor in a palm grove. Its white-and-blue Modernist façade, studded with portholes and picture windows, may seem ready to set sail for the New World, but, thankfully, this recently built hotel is here to stay. It’s just as well. The nearby villages of Padstow and Rock, facing each other across the water a couple of coves down from St Moritz, may attract as many upmarket weekenders as Tuscany and Umbria combined, but the area has lacked any seriously great hotel accommodation…’
