Escape to New York line-upPut down that tired tent, drop that ancient mini-grill and don’t even think about the canteen: for the first-time ever, the masterminds behind the UK’s Secret Garden Party have landed in the Hamptons.

For one weekend only, a super-cool collection of artists, foodies and performers have joined forces to bring you Escape to New York, three rocking days of boutique festival revelry. Best of all, there’s still time to get tickets for all you stragglers. The party offers the promise of gourmet grub from our friends Phil and Ben of NYC’s famed restaurant The Fat Radish (and Ruschmeyer’s) and Luke’s Lobster, proper cocktails, such as watermelon margaritas and ginger snap mojitos, and music, of course. If you happen to be Hamptons-bound this weekend, you don’t want to miss this. Festivities begin tomorrow Friday, 5 August at 11am and continue into the evening on Sunday, 7 August. Rest assured, it ain’t Woodstock.

Where? The Shinnecock Tribe is playing host at their Southampton reservation, located 90 miles outside of New York. Head to SUNY Stony Brook Southampton’s parking lot on Tuckahoe Road to buy tickets and parking passes, before heading to the tricked-out grounds.

Event highlight Performances by Patti Smith, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Of Montreal and The Psychedelic Furs and more musically inclined folk; designated tents for dancing, meditation and acoustic sets. Be sure to bring your phone: the masses will simultaneously play an instructional MP3 that will have you in stitches. There may also be a massive pillow fight, but you didn’t hear it from us. Make history at what will hopefully be the world’s largest brunch on Sunday, 7 August; get tickets for US$39.

Tickets Start at US$30 for last-minute walk-ups after 5pm and go up to US$275 (which includes free camping). Parking is hard to come by, so try to catch a ride with friends if you can. Secure a spot for US$15 or US$20 for prime parking. All tickets and passes must be purchased at SUNY.
