Hotel of the week: Escape Boutique B&B

Posted by Kate on January 15th, 2010

Style Genteel modern townhouse
Setting Seaside meets Snowdonia

Why this week? Some makeovers attract scandal, but the overhaul at Escape Boutique B&B in North Wales is no Anne Robinson. Their refurbishment has triggered much speculation at Smith HQ as to how you might improve upon the elegant blend of old and new that Escape had already perfected. Ahead of their relaunch on 5 February, we’ve decided to make them Hotel of the week (and after last week’s New Zealand boutique hotel, we thought we’d come back to the UK). Be among the first to enjoy their new look for 2010.

Sitting room, Escape, WalesOur favourite bits Bits being the operative word, as we only know teasing tidbits about Escape’s transformation. Owners Sam and Gaynor have been cherry-picking vintage pieces and commissioning bespoke furniture. There are some modern touches, too – LED wallpaper for the Boudoir; glazed furniture and an Italian ‘floating bed’ for the Calm & Light Room; in the Loft, the mezzanine has been extended to create a small seating area. And there are new TVs, Blu Ray DVD players and Bose docking systems for all!

Escape's elegant facadeMr & Mrs Smith say ‘There are nine individually designed rooms at Escape. When you speak to Sam and Gaynor about the fun they had browsing eBay and antiques fairs for signature furniture, such as Robin Day chairs, infinity mirrors and original 1960s Sanderson flock wallpaper, you can feel their passion for design, and it’s reflected in every corner of the B&B.’
