Summer lovin’: we’re head over heels for Crete, Santorini and Spain
Posted by Caroline on July 5th, 2010It’s July, and officially time for summer dreams. Far from clocking off duty for snoozy siestas, we’ve busied ourselves hotel hunting, so we can draft in another crop of blissful boltholes…
Crete called for the first time, and came through for us: minotaurs and myths aside, we found Paradise Island Villas, an Arcadia of stand-alone suites, Domes of Elounda, a rotund resort overlooking a deserted island, and Kapsaliana Village Hotel, an olive-pressed-enhanced hillside hamlet. Across the Aegean in Santorini, we found Santorini Grace, a whitewashed cliffside wonder.
We hit the Hamptons in time for vacation season, plucking C/O the Maidstone, a Scandinavian-themed retreat in East Hampton, for our collection.
Ready for a sultry Spanish summer, Seville revealed Palacio de Villapanés, a chic city sanctuary, and, in Mallorca, Cap Rocat, a former fortress with spectacular sea views, opened its doors.
In the UK, we dined in decadence at 21212, a ravishing restaurant with rooms in Edinburgh, and settled into the spa at elegant equine retreat, Lucknam Park in Wiltshire.
Next month, we’re disappearing off to Texas, Cape Town and Buenos Aires all in the name of holiday-ready hotels…
