It’s always a pleasure arriving in style – and it’s hard to beat the rock-star entrance you’ll make at Rayavadee boutique hotel in Krabi, Thailand, as you glide towards a white-sand beach on board a luxury speedboat. Big shades are a must…

Why this week? Set sail between now and the end of November for some extra perks with the Relaxation, Rice or Rocks package. Couples can choose between the courageous and the culinary: a private half-day rock-climbing lesson or a Thai cooking class. Afterwards, loosen up with a 75-minute massage at the Rayavadee Spa and enjoy a free meal at one of Rayavadee’s romantic restaurants.
Our favourite bits… Surrounded by inspiring limestone cliffs, Krabi has always been a popular rock-climbing spot, or if that’s too extreme, explore the maze of caves below ground. Take a long-tail boat to one of the countless islands nearby, boasting some of the best beaches in the world – perfect for snorkelling or diving. After a busy (or thoroughly relaxed) day, dine at any of four Rayavadee restaurants; Krua Phranang is the best choice for scrumptious Thai seafood dinners by the ocean, or opt for a casual starlit beach barbecue. Wrap up at the Grotto (below), the most seductive setting to sip a long, cool cocktail at sunset.
Mr & Mrs Smith say… ‘Part of Rayavadee’s allure is its exclusive location; only accessible by boat from Krabi, it’s fantastically private. It’s also breath-stoppingly beautiful: three azure-lapped sugar-white beaches are crowned by vast, jagged limestone cliffs, pocked and riddled with caverns and caves. Say ‘untamed tropical paradise’ and most people would draw something like this on their mental sketchpads. Few, however, would have the talent to do it justice.’ Read Anna Acton’s full review here.
You say… ‘A quiet cocktail in the Grotto is not to be missed. Sitting back with your feet in the sand, watching the sun go down, is the perfect end to a perfect day on Krabi.’ (Kerry Ann, GoldSmith, stayed on 9 April 2009.)
