On the calmer side of Cabo, El Ganzo hotel doubles as an arts and culture centre, and hosts artists in residence, regular recording sessions and live music. Ocean views from every room, fresh and locally sourced dishes from Ganzo Downstairs and inviting loungers strategically surrounding the begging-to-be-Instagrammed infinity pool will tempt you to hunker down at this design hotel for the whole of your holiday.

SETTING COOLER SIDE OF CABO
WHY THIS WEEK?
After a run-in with Hurricane Odile last year, El Ganzo took some time off to renovate and is now poised for a triumphant return. Be among the first back and get rewarded for planning your autumn escape to sunshine in advance; with Hotel El Ganzo’s Reopening Special, you’ll receive 30% off stays between 1 October and 18 December if you book by 31 August.
OUR FAVOURITE BITS
If you manage to pry yourself away from the infinity pool, hop on a shuttle boat across the marina to the hotel’s private beach club Ganzo de Playa, one of the area’s swimmable beaches. Paddle board, kayak, canoe and snorkel the day away, or lounge on the white sand beach with an icy margarita from the beach club bar in hand. Spend an afternoon at the Spa El Ganzo and try a detoxifying Mezcal Ritual with agave scrub. After dinner at one of the hotel’s restaurant or sushi bar, grab a cerveza or Sangrita and bag a Bali bed with your querido to enjoy live music or an outdoor film on the rooftop.
MR & MRS SMITH SAY… ‘The first of its kind in this part of the world, El Ganzo is a destination for culture-inclined holiday-goers who want more than just a beach break. There is a beach, of course – a coveted rarity along Los Cabos’ rocky shoreline – and the private Ganzo de Playa beach club attracts guests for hours of basking and water-sports. But there’s also a weekly on-site farmers market, a rooftop raw bar, a recording studio downstairs, two swimming pools and 72 rustic-luxe rooms, each with an ocean view.’ Read the full El Ganzo review.
